UNDERSTANDING MENTAL HEALTH  CONDITIONS

Just like our physical health, our mental health can be affected by certain conditions. These conditions are real and common and can be managed effectively with support.

Mental health conditions are challenges or difficulties that affect a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They can range from mild to severe and can interfere with a person's ability to function in daily life. A combination of factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, life experiences, and environment, influences these conditions.

Examples of mental health conditions include Anxiety disorders, Depression, and other mood disorders, Personality disorders, Psychotic disorders (e.g., schizophrenia), and Eating disorders. Symptoms can vary but often include ongoing sadness, excessive worry, changes in sleep or appetite, difficulty concentrating, or, in some cases, hallucinations or delusions.

The good news is that mental health conditions are treatable. Support might include therapy, medication, or lifestyle changes. Early help leads to better outcomes.

Recovery is possible—and everyone deserves the chance to heal.
